It is with heartfelt sadness that we, the family of Kevin King, 61, announce his passing on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, due to complications related to ALS.
Born in North Sydney on June 5, 1957, he was the son of the late Louis and Stella (Hynes) King.
Kevin was a quality craftsman and was known for his carpentry work. He was a member of the Labourers Union, Local 92, and worked frequently in Alberta. When not working, Kevin was often having a beer and a laugh with friends, driving his cherished Corvette, or at the beloved cabin in Margaree.
He is survived by his two children, Kaela (Jamie) and Justin; his loving girlfriend, Debbie Murray and her son, Gerrit (Katie). He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Bailey; brothers-in-law, Ernie Green and Matt (Marg) Sodys; sisters-in-law, Daina (Curtis) MacDonald and Lina (Dave) MacDonald, along with many dear friends and family.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Asta (Sodys); sisters, Kay and Linda; brother, Kenny and brother-in-law, Vince Bailey.
Thank you to Dr. McKeough, Dr. Maharaj, the ALS Society of Nova Scotia, the nursing staff of CBRH CCU, and the Palliative Care Team for the compassionate care and support given to Kevin and his family.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 10 a.m. with a celebration of Kevin’s life to follow at 11 a.m. in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the ALS Society of Nova Scotia to help others in need.
