Julia Louise Fillmore
1952-2019
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce
the passing of the most kind, caring and amazing woman, wife, mother
and grandmother; Julia Fillmore. She passed peacefully on March 4,
2019 at Bobby’s Hospice, where she was surrounded by her
husband, children, grandchildren and close friends.
Julia was born in Vancouver, BC, on November 9, 1952 to the
late John and Betty Abbott-Smith (Moffatt). She is survived by her
loving husband, Brian, of 36 years, and her four daughters, Callie
Palmer (Luis), Kim Kaine (Scott), Stephanie Fillmore (John) and Tara
Belyea (Mike). She is also survived by her two brothers, David
Abbott-Smith (Andrea) and Ken Abbott-Smith (Linda). Her greatest
source of pride was her four grandchildren, Jacob, Lauren, Leo and
Raymond.
Julia made her way East after graduating High School in Cold
Lake, Alberta. She lived in Dartmouth and later settled in Saint John.
She had a career in banking and later worked for Horizon Health from
where she retired after 30 years.
Julia was best known for her incredible smile and ability to
make instant friendships wherever she went. Always happy and willing
to help anyone in need, she was active in the lives of her family and
friends as well as her church community at the Church of the Good
Shepherd. She truly was heaven sent, a constant source of positivity
and her light in this life will forever be missed. She was the best
mother, grandmother and the most amazing wife.
