CRIPPS, John W. May 12th, 1944 – March 3rd, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jack. After a courageous battle, Jack passed away surrounded by his family at the Port Colborne Hospital. He is predeceased by his parents John and Doris Cripps and brother Phil. Jack was a loving husband and best friend to Sharon (nee Souter) and a stable guiding force to his children Janet Cripps (Chris Zanuttini) and John Cripps (Jennifer Reeder). Jack loved and adored his two grandsons Emile and Lucca, and was often the instigator to many shenanigans that the three would become entangled with. He leaves behind his sister whom he adored, Dorothy Wright (Gerry), brother Robert Cripps, cherished sister-in-laws Phyllis (nee Souter, late Allan Green) and Norine (nee Gill- late Pete Souter), several nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends. Lest we forget his loyal, furry best pal, Winston.
He and the family are especially grateful for the love and support from his niece and her husband Leslie Green and John Herter who made trips from British Columbia to support the family during these last few months. As a past employee of Bell Canada for 33 years, and most recently the owner of Cripps Telecommunications for the last 18 years before his retirement, Jack touched many lives with his smile and positive attitude. He wished to be remembered as a friend to all.
The family would like to specially thank all of the staff at the Port Colborne Hospital for their care and devotion during this time. Your acts of kindness during this very difficult time have truly been appreciated. You truly are a first rate team!
Family and friends will be received at the PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill on Tuesday, March 5th from 7-9 pm and on Wednesday, March 6th from 1:00 pm until the time of service. In Accordance to Jack’s wishes, a Celebration of Jack’s life will take place on Wednesday, March 6th (the same date Jack and Sharon would have celebrated 55 years of marriage) beginning 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will following at Pleasantview Cemetery, Thorold. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Niagara Health Foundation – Port Colborne Complex Care Unit would be greatly appreciated.
