Jane Alice
February 28, 1933 – March 18, 2019
Passed peacefully away Jane Alice Martin on Monday, March 18th at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home in St. John’s in her 87th year. She is predeceased by her parents, Marjorie and Richard Hulan, sister and brother-in-law Olga and Clifford Pretty, and her loving husband William Martin. Leaving to mourn with love and cherished memories are her children: Brenda Martin (Mount Pearl) and Marcus (Sue)Martin (Calgary); grandchildren: Ashley (Gavin) Preston (Melbourne, Australia), Robbyn (Brett) Peckford (Calgary), Aaron Mosher (Darcy Evans), (Gander Bay), and David Mosher (Mount Pearl); great grandchildren: William and Evie Preston (Melbourne) and Jackson Peckford (Calgary); close friend Norma Hoddinott (Corner Brook); and nephews: George (Bonnie) Pretty and Jack Pretty (Corner Brook); and other relatives and friends. Jane loved playing with her grandchildren and socializing with many friends in Corner Brook. She taught for many years at St. Mark’s School and Humber Elementary and always loved hearing about past students. Many thanks to the staff at Hillcrest Estates in Mount Pearl and St. Patrick’s Mercy Home for their cheerfulness, kindness and care. Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, Corner Brook on Thursday, March 21st from 2:00 to 4:00 and from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral service will take place on Friday, March 22nd at St. John the Evangelist Church, Main Street at 2:00 pm with The Very Rev. Catherine Short officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Janeway Children’s Hospital.
