In loving memory of Mr. Ivan Yarkie who passed away at his residence in Englehart, on Saturday, March 09, 2019 at the age of 76.
Pre-deceased by Parents Herman & Eva Yarkie, Parents-in-law George & Florence Dudgeon, Brothers-in-law Roland Leroux & David Lamond, Nieces & Nephews.
He is survived by wife Doris of 54 years, daughter Darlene son in law Jackie Woods of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, son George of Gravenhurst. God son Sean Yarkie of Englehart. Siblings John (Joyce), Ed (Bev), Beatrice, Evelyn, Pat, Carol (Ken), Audrey (Dennis), Marlene (Larry) & Joanne. Brother-in- law George (Mary), Cameron & Henry. Sister- in- law Victoria (Calvin) Alice (Perry) & Dorothy (Rene) and by numerous of nieces & nephews.
Ivan was a avid fisherman, he also loved hunting or just being out in the bush. Ivan loved teaching his nieces and nephews how to fish. He also enjoyed playing cards, reading western books and listening to country music.
Ivan was a diamond driller and worked in Canada and Greenland. He worked for many companies Cabo, Health & Sherwood, Longyear and Morrissette. He also was a miner for Kerr Addison Mine, and also worked in Forestry for Lyle Shortt, Joe Mazur and Bob MacCallum.
In keeping with Ivan’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service at this time. Cremation has taken place. There will be a “Celebration of Life” at a later date. Ivan was Everybodies Gentle Giant Teddy Bear. In memory contributions to the charity of your choice will be greatly appreciated. Condolences, contributions and memorial candles may be left at www.mcdonaldfuneralhome.ca.
