It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Isaac (Ike) Giesbrecht on Thursday, February 28, 2019, at the age of 49 years. Ike was born on March 14, 1969, at Bethel Hospital in Winkler, MB.
He leaves to mourn, his loving wife Nancy (Hiebert) Giesbrecht, nine sisters and four brothers: Helena, Peter (Kathy), Mary (Ken), Susan (Richard), Martin (Marty), Anne (Barry), Bernie (Mary), Margaret (Greg), Lisa (Neil), Sarah (Jim), Dave (Susan), Jessie (Herman), Neta (Al); parents in-law Tony and Helen Hiebert, five Hiebert siblings and their spouses, 61 nieces and nephews, 55 great nieces and nephews and many aunts and uncles, as well as Dennis and Leona and family.
Ike was predeceased by his parents Peter and Maria Giesbrecht and brother in-law Pete Neufeld.
Ike was baptized on his confession of his faith on May 29, 1989, in the Winkler Sommerfeld Church by Bishop John A. Friesen.
On October 11, 1993, Ike found the love of his life (Nancy) and they were married June 5, 1994.
His passion in life was gardening (especially his yard) and loved to travel to warm destinations (11 trips south with Nancy). He was diagnosed with diabetes in November 2015, which made life a little more difficult. In the past Ike has worked construction, cooking, stuccoing, and at a golf course. Ike’s love for his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews was a site to behold because he was always ready with baby gifts or wedding presents.
A big thank you to the EMS, RCMP, Fire Dept, Dr. Minnaar, the nursing staff at Bethesda Regional Health Centre and to Charlene and Ernie.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ike may be made to Birchwood Funeral Chapel to help assist the family with funeral expenses.
A come and go viewing will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2019, from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 11, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Southland Church in the retreat and training centre, Steinbach, MB.
Interment will take place at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
