Gerald Edward Flemming
November 13, 1930 – March 11, 2019

Flemming, Gerald Edward ‘Gerry’ Age 88, of Ketch Harbour, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2019, at Maplestone Enhanced Care in Halifax. Born in Halifax, November 13, 1930, he was the son of the late James Albert and Alice (Kirby) Flemming. He is survived by his daughters, Janice (David) Coady, Ketch Harbour, and Dianne (Sandy McDonald) Duncan, Halifax; son, Andrew (Deborah), Edmonton, AB; grandchildren, Jenna and Melissa, Edmonton, AB; brother, Gordon, Portuguese Cove; sister, Madeline Gray, Halifax. Dad loved the time he spent in his early years working at Camperdown wireless telegraph station in Portuguese Cove, and as assistant lighthouse keeper at Chebucto Head, after which he went on to Simpson’s where he worked for over 30 years. Dad loved to reminisce about his many adventures growing up in Ketch Harbour as a young boy during WWII. Hobbies included TV and radio repair, and being on the water fishing. He was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Maplestone Enhanced Care for their exceptional care of Dad and wonderful support for the family. A special thank you to nephew, David, for all you have done. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, or a charity of your choice.
