Obituary of George Sawko
With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of George Sawko at the Sault Area Hospital on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the age of 68. Beloved husband and friend of Marlene for 44 years. Cherished father of Justin (Raiva), Amanda (Mike Smykacz) and Conan (Chelsea Holtom). George loved his grandchildren, Bianca, Jonah and Finn Sawko and Isla and Lily Smykacz. He is survived by his dear sister Krystyna O’Brien, niece Jennifer (Adam Roberts) and great niece Paisley as well as his aunt Maria Lachowicz and cousins John and Chris. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass at St. Jerome’s Parish on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Pat Woods officiating. A time of fellowship and reception to follow. Memorial donations to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society would be appreciated by the family. A very special thank you to the SAH Emergency and ICU staff for the care shown to George and our family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758).
