Obituary of Fern May Bird
On Thursday, March 14, 2019, Fern May Bird (Packham) passed away peacefully at Albright Manor in her 101st year. Beloved wife of the late Harold Bird (2013) and the late Donald Packham (1975), Fern was predeceased by her daughter Donna Embrey (2013), sons-in-law Samuel Embrey Jr. (2010) and Donald Lampman (1971), and her parents Norwood (1979) and Clara Bartlett (1957). She will greatly be missed and forever loved by her family; Jim Lampman (Carin), Wade Lampman (Darlene), Bonnie Bird (Andreas Gada), Helen Skelton (Alan), Cara Bester (Mike) and her great-grandchildren Donny and Kathleen Lampman. Born on June 29, 1918 in Thorold Twp, she lived a full and busy life and will always be remembered for her feisty spirit, the stories she told, her love of knitting, reading, local history, needlepoint and above all, her family. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful staff of 2E at Albright Manor for their loving care and kindness. Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Sunday, March 17 from 3-6 p.m. Funeral service on Monday, March 18 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with interment at Waite Cemetery, Abingdon. Memorial donations to Albright Centre or McNally House Hospice would be appreciated by the family and if desired can be made through the funeral home.
