Elaine Thornton Tuesday March 5th 2019

THORNTON, Elaine (nee Steckley) – It is with great sadness that we her children announce the passing of Elaine Pearl Thornton (Steckley), age 80, of Stratford. Elaine passed away peacefully with love and dignity on Tuesday, March 5th, 2019 surrounded by her loving family, after a long courageous battle with cancer. She will be remembered as being a devoted Mother, Nana, Sister and Sister-in-law. She had the most loving heart and touched many lives with her kindness and radiant smile. Elaine especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to spend her time watching the BlueJays, knitting, cooking and gardening. Predeceased by her former husband Ray Thornton (2002) and by her parents Eli and Olga Steckley. Loving mother of MelodyAnn (Dale), Julie (John), Shawn (Sinéad) and son-in- law Colin. Proud grandmother to Adam, Ashley, Jazlyn, Caleb, Caitlin and Rory. Elaine will be dearly missed by her brother Bill Steckley (Norma), sisters Anne Culos, Audree Sikorski, and sister-in-law Louise Steckley. Predeceased by brothers Clarence Steckley, Ken Steckley and sisters Lorraine Langohr and Eldene Lotz. A celebration of life will be held at Dockside at The Old Marina on Sunday, March 24th 1-4pm. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to St Luke’s Place. We would also like to thank St Luke’s for the kind and comforting attention that they provided to Elaine during her time of need! Online condolences may be placed at www.lounsburyfuneralhome.com
