Jacob Dyck passed away on March 1, 2019 in Abbotsford, BC. He was born on August 24, 1931 to Peter and Justina Dyck (née Loewen) in Chortitza, Ukraine. He was the youngest of three children. The Russian government took his father away when Jake was only a young boy. Life without their father was a struggle but they were happy. Jake and his family were repatriated to Germany during WWII where Jake worked on a farm. Jake and his family immigrated to Canada in 1948 and settled in Vancouver, BC.
In 1949 Jake met Mary Janzen. He was baptized at the First United Mennonite Church in May 1950 and married on August 26, 1950. Mary and Jake’s first son, Victor, was born on June 21, 1951 and their second son, Arthur, on April 16, 1955. He spent most of his working life at Sauder Doors and retired in 1988 just before his only grandchild, Justine, was born. In his retirement he enjoyed travelling, especially spending time in Arizona, golfing and being with his family.
Jake is survived by his wife, two sons, granddaughter, brother Peter and many friends.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Dyck Jacob August 24 1931
