Doreen’s Obituary
AUCOIN, Doreen Eva ~ Age 76 of Greenwood, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2019 in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born in St. Boniface, MB, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Elsie (McConachie) Jenkinson. Doreen was raised and educated in St. Boniface and Selkirk, Manitoba. Her love for gardening was profound. She had a very sweet and indomitable personality and was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Doreen was a self-taught seamstress, creating many wonderful crafts and clothes. She loved beachcombing, looking for unexpected treasures. Doreen was married to her best friend and soulmate for 56 years. She is survived by and will be sadly missed by her husband, Kenneth; daughter, Denise (Douglas) Lewis, Middle Sackville; son, Paul Aucoin, Greenwood; and grandson, Christopher Lewis. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert Jr. and sister, Gertrude. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, April 5, 2019 in St. Mark’s Chapel, 14 Wing, Greenwood, with Rev. Maya Bevan officiating. Interment will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery, at a later date. By request, family flowers only please. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Mountain Lea Lodge for the kindness and care given to Doreen during her stay. Donations in Doreen’s memory can be made to the VON-Annapolis Valley Branch or the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
