Peacefully at the Hawkesbury General Hospital on Tuesday, March 5,2019 with his family by his side Donald Folkard of Vankleek Hill passed away at the age of 85. Predeceased by his parents Arthur Folkard and Violet Wyatt. Loving and devoted husband of 62 years to Shirley (née Froats). Proud and caring father of Jeffrey (Karen), Janet Hatfield (Jeffrey) and Michael (Susan). Dearly loved grandfather of Aynsley, Alex, Reid, Brian, Derek, Emily, Steven and his great-granchildren Cullen and Oliver. Predeceased by his sister Doris. Don served his community as a volunteer in numerous organizations for over a half century. He was active on a number of boards and councils. He served at Knox Presbyterian Church in several capacities and was recently named an Elder Emeritus. Donald, Don, Donnie, Donny, Uncle Donnie and Gramps depending on how you knew him had a wonderful sense of humour and loved life. He will be sorely missed.
Friends may visit at Knox Presbyterian Church 29 High Street, Vankleek Hill on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 10 am followed by a Celebration of Donald’s Life at 11 am. A reception will follow in the Archie Hardy Hall. Spring interment Springhill Cemetery, Metcalfe, Ontario. In the spirit of helping the community Donald loved, a donation to C.A.F.E Community Assistance Fund Enterprise,PO Box 23, Vankleek Hill, Ontario K0B 1R0 would be appreciated.
