Donald’s Obituary
GILLIS, Donald Teed ~ age 74 of Middleton, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Saint John, NB, he was a son of the late Donald and Mary (Teed) Gillis. Don was a Nova Scotia land surveyor having worked in Churchill Falls, Alberta, Nigeria, Halifax and the Annapolis Valley. He enjoyed gardening, yard maintenance, and doing mind puzzles. Don was also a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch No 1, Middleton where he had served as Sergeant at Arms in the past. Don went to great lengths to expound the importance of family. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Mackenzie (nee Gillis); brothers, Bruce (Debbie) Gillis, Paradise; Thom (Dorena) Gillis, Grand Etang, NS; Jim (Flora) Gillis, Midland, Texas; Tim Gillis, Middleton; Scott (Jose) Gillis, St. John’s, Nfld; and Shaun Gillis, Quispamsis, NB. Besides his parents, Donald was predeceased by his sisters, Melody and Heather. In keeping with Donald’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 6 – 8 p.m., Friday, March 22nd in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., 1-855-825-3448. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2019 in St. Monica’s Roman Catholic Church, Middleton with Father John MacPherson officiating, assisted by Rev. Deacon Don Boudreau. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in the parish hall. Donations in Donald’s memory may be made to the Canadian Wildlife Foundation or The Seeing Eye www.seeingeye.org .
