Obituary for
David Mazerolle
MAZEROLLE, Joseph David (Dave) – It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Dave in Whitby, Ontario on February 28, 2018 at the age of 88. Born in Tracadie Beach, NB, he lived most of his life in New Aberdeen, Glace Bay, NS and was predeceased by his wife Theresa.
He is survived by his son Andre, daughter-in-law Moragh Cameron and grandson Keigan Mazerolle. One of 27 siblings, Dave is survived by many nephews and nieces and his remaining brothers Camille and Gerry Mazerolle (NB) and sisters Norma Pringle (ON), Cecile Poirier, Anita Beaudin, and Mildred Robichaud (NB).
A dedicated brother of the Ironworkers Union Local 752 for almost 60 years who made friends wherever he travelled, Dave was a champion cribbage player, loved fiddle and Newfie music, was an enviable gardener and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his buddies all over Cape Breton. Never one to be idle, it was once said of Dave that when he was ice fishing, “He never sat still long enough to drown his worm.”
Dave’s family thanks the staff and volunteers of Sunnycrest Nursing Home in Whitby for their care. Special thanks for the care and support shown by Debbie Borden, Avril Plummer, Dhel Peralta, Miranda Pattison and Francyelle Fernandez.
Dave’s ashes will be retuned to St. John’s cemetery in Cape Breton where he will rest next to his wife, forever with a view of the wild blue Atlantic Ocean. The family has yet to choose a date for his service on Cape Breton.
The family asks no flowers at this time, rather please make a donation on Dave’s behalf to the Glace Bay Food Bank Society.
Order Flowers
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of David
