Casey, Claude – 96, Riverview, passed away at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Friday March 22, 2019. He was born in Pugwash to Maude (Killawee) and Laurie Casey, but raised on their farm on the Casey Road, Linden. Claude was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Riverview, and served on the Board of Managers. He was a former member of the Eastern Star, Sunrise Chapter, Charter member of Acadia Masonic Lodge, #13, Pugwash, where he had received his 50 year jewel. Over the years he was a self-employed truck driver, school bus driver, carpenter, and for the last 24 years until his retirement, was a long time employee of the Department of Transportation. Claude met his wife Orpha (Ross), a school teacher, and made their home in Riverview where he lived for 74 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and family dinners. During his retirement he took pride in his gardening, flower beds, mowing and trimming grass. He also enjoyed doing preserves for the winter months. Claude will be sadly missed by his children, Brenda (David) Dawson, Kanata; Norma (Roger) Mundle, Pugwash; Gary (Susan) Casey, Amherst and Gloria Casey, Moncton; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 3 step-great grandchildren; sisters, Marie Casey, Truro; Jean Mitchell, Amherst; Sheila (Darrell) Thompson, East Leicester; sister-in-law, Eleanor. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Orpha; brothers, Elwin, Arthur, Earl, Carl, Don, Jack; sisters, Dorothy, Mildred, Margaret, Grace, and a sister Marilyn in infancy. Visitation will be held from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Monday, March 25, at Mundle’s Funeral Home, 204 Water St., Pugwash, from where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26. Rev. John Tonks officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Claude’s memory may be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, The Rockley Cemetery, The Canadian Cancer Society or charity of one’s choice.
