Obituary of Catherine Stevenson Brooks
STEVENSON, Catherine formerly Brooks (nee O’Toole):
On Wednesday, March 14, 2019 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Catherine went to be with her Lord and Saviour (surrounded by her loving family). Beloved wife of Ed Stevenson. Devoted mother of Ryan Brooks (Angela) and Michelle McCraken (Dale McKergow), and step mother of Jeff Stevenson (Krista). ‘Gramma Peterborough’ will be missed by grandchildren Alexandra Ellis (Dan), Juliana Brooks (Sean) and Jacob and Nicholai McCracken and by many dear friends and numerous nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Clair Michael O’Toole and Ruth Driscoll. Catherine leaves behind siblings Pat Keating (Bill), John O’Toole (Peggy), Gerry O’Toole (Judy), Jane O’Toole Goodman (Paul deceased 2007), Monica Audia (Sam), Ruth Ciraulo (Gino), Lynn O’Toole (Dave Eade) and Barb O’Toole (late Karle). At the age of 19, Catherine began her teaching career with the Scarborough Board of Education where she received The Teacher of the Year award and in 1987 joined the P.V.N.C. Roman Catholic Board where she received the award of Excellence for her expertise from the Council for Exceptional Children before retiring in 1995. Longtime member of CWL of Assumption Parish, Otonabee. Visitation will be held at Ashburnham Chapel Tuesday, March 19, 2019 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Assumption Church, on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 11:00 am, 1830 Keene Road, Otonabee, ON. Reception to follow. A private family inurnment to be held at a later date. If desired, condolences to the family, directions to celebration, or donations to the Our Lady of Assumption Church may be made at www.AshburnhamFuneral.ca
