Anton (Tony) Valentine Hubert
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tony Hubert on Tuesday, February 26th, 2019 at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Judy Hubert, caring father of Tina Hubert (Catherine Hollifield) and Diana Hubert (Jason Anderson), grandpa of Aidan Hollifield, brother of Steve Hubert (Anne) and John Hubert (June), brother in-law of Debbie Pageau (Larry), uncle of Liz, Caroline, Jody, Jason, Candice, Eric, Joseph, Christian, Lukas, and their families.… Read More » Tony was born on the farm on August 1, 1938, in Watson, Saskatchewan to Mathilda (nee Gaetz) and Stefan Hubert.
He grew up in Windsor and studied at the Western Ontario Institute of Technology. Tony met Judy at a local dance and swept her away with his dashing good looks and his MG convertible. They were married in 1963 and together raised two daughters in Carlisle. Tina and Diana cherish memories of family camping, long road trips, building Legos, card games, golf tournaments, and dancing on Daddy’s toes at Oktoberfest.
Tony’s 32 year career with IBM (1961-1993) started during the early days of computers, and included working at NORAD in North Bay, and working in Hamilton, Mississauga and Toronto. During his retirement, he enjoyed playing and working at the Carlisle Golf & Country Club. Tony was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and lived out his final days comfortably at home in Judy’s care.
Tony loved to laugh and always had a smile or joke for everyone. He loved golf, apple pie, dancing and fixing things.
A Celebration of Tony’s long and happy life will be held at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill Street North Waterdown, ON, L0R 2H0 on Saturday, March 9th, 2019 from 2-5 p.m. Private cremation has taken place.
