Obituary of Jean Marie Williams
December 7, 1931 – March 15, 2019
Passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener. Born in Blyth, Ontario the eldest child to parents Edwin and Dorothy (Bryant) Cartwright, Jean was also predeceased by brothers Donald and Jim and by sister Eva Jetrid Cartwright (Rueger, Zylstra). In 1954 in Blyth, Jean was married to Robert Arthur Williams (who predeceased her in 2013) and for 59 years, their lives were enriched by a dedicated and loving commitment to each other.
Cherished mother of Ann Marie (late Robert Gorrie), Mary Lynn Mitchell (Robert) and Ruth Arlene. Beloved grandmother to Candice Tomasic (Ivan), Andrew Mitchell (Katrina), Michael Panigas (Faye), Bianca Badeau (Michael), and Alexander Panigas. Great-grandmother to Emily and Olivia Tomasic, Mason and Gia Panigas, William and Jack Badeau. Step-grandmother to Katie Aucoin and great-grandma to Katie’s children Maybelle and Evvelyn. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Jean was highly regarded as a caring nurse to patients, family and friends. She was a beacon of light and a steady hand especially through difficult times. Jean was recognized by Toronto Police Services for the countless quilts she made for the homeless and was a longtime member of the Rebekah Lodge.
Cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of life will occur at a later date.
