Obituary for
Dorothy McLean MacIvor (Leach)
The family announces with great sorrow the peaceful passing of Dorothy MacIvor at the Timmins and District Hospital on Friday, March 15th at the age of 98 years. Predeceased by her husband George McLean, R.C.A.F in 1942 and Roy D. MacIvor in 1996. Dearest and proud mother of three sons, Dr. Allan MacIvor (Louise) Dr. Ross MacIvor (Marisa) and Gordon MacIvor (Chantal). Loving Nana to Grant MacIvor (Valérie), Neil MacIvor (Katie), Adam MacIvor, Mallory MacIvor (Nicholas), Madison MacIvor, Mac MacIvor and Kième MacIvor. Adoring great-grandmother to Nash MacIvor and Shepard MacIvor. She leaves behind her cherished sister Cheryl Bucar (Nick) of Timmins, sister-in-law Pearl Mclean of Crystal Beach, ON and Denise MacIvor of Timmins. Dorothy was the District Deputy, President of The Daughters of Rebekah Lodge #173, life member of the U.C.W of First United Church, member of Ladies Auxiliary of RC Legion Branch #287 and honorary life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #88. She served in W.W.II in the Women’s Royal Canadian Navy. Dorothy rarely missed her Monday afternoon’s at the Covenant United Church (First United) for her “therapy sessions” with the “girls.” She was always looking forward to the next tea or social event. She took great pleasure in knitting, reading, watching sports and attending her children and grandchildren’s special events, recitals and festivals. Dorothy was a strong matriarch who demonstrated leadership and wisdom. She always encouraged her family and friends to take advantage of all of life’s opportunities. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to the staff of CCAC especially Darla, Priscilla and special friends Danielle and Carl. They would also like to thank the staff of the Timmins and District Hospital, who gave her exceptional care. The funeral service will be held in funeral home chapel on Wednesday March 20, 2019 at 12 p.m. (noon). The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Lessard-Stephens Funeral Home 705-268-4488. Remembrance donations to the Rotary Foundation or the Covenant United Church Building Fund would be greatly appreciated.
