Bryan was predeceased by his beloved wife and partner of 56 years, Sandra Jean Mehlenbacher, with whom he shared two sons, Brad and Jeff. Bryan was born in Hagersville, Ontario, and graduated from Cayuga High School and Niagara Christian Collegiate, before joining the Canadian Bank of Commerce in 1959 and then Victoria and Grey Trust in 1965. Bryan was the former President and C.E.O. of the Toronto-based National Trust Company, having before then served Victoria and Grey in numerous capacities, including through years of aggressive branch expansion, and as the vice president and general manager of Victoria and Grey and Metropolitan Trust during their 1979 merger. Bryan was also actively involved in his communities, serving the Renfrew Chamber of Commerce, the Eastern Ontario Liberal Association, Rotary, and even serving as an elected town council member. He was also a minor hockey league president and coach. Enjoying an early retirement at 52, Bryan spent time building a beautiful home in Selkirk, just doors away from his parent’s cottage, and his brother and sister. He also enjoyed managing several other properties, playing many good rounds of golf, and a growing and rich family life, which included helping to raise his granddaughter, Emma. Bryan and his wife Sandra spent many loving years raising a family, dancing, and traveling the world together. They stole away special moments in the sun, with wonderful memories of time in the British Virgin Islands, Antigua, Saint Lucia, and the Dominican Republic, and also enjoyed traveling through Europe and Asia. Bryan and Sandra would winter in their second home in St. Petersburg, Florida. Bryan is survived by his sons Brad Mehlenbacher and his wife Ashley Rose Mehlenbacher of Kitchener, Ontario, and Jeff Mehlenbacher and his wife Barbara Mehlenbacher of Caledon, Ontario; his four grandchildren, Emma Mehlenbacher and her husband Dylan MacKinnon of Toronto, Ontario, Eric Mehlenbacher of Caledon, Ontario, Eleanor Mehlenbacher of Boston, MA, and Frances Mehlenbacher of Asheville, NC.
