Obituary for William “Ted” Brown
Print
BROWN, William Edward aka Ted – Passed peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton, early Thursday morning, February 21, 2019, in his 81st year. Survived by his wife, Judy Powell, of over 35 years; daughter, Maggie Wood; step daughters Ruth-Ann (“Fanny”) Spencer and Jackie Broker; his brother Lloyd Brown (and wife Shirley). Much adored papa of Jody, Spencer, Sierra, Hailey, and Lucas. Loved by nephews Gary, David, Michael (and wife Nancy) and nieces Christine, Lori May, and Sue. Ted had a very special place in his heart for his granddaughter, Sierra.
In addition to the years he spent working at Baycoat and Dewilt, Ted was a craftsman and carver as well as a musician, singer and songwriter who was respected by many members of Hamilton’s musical community. His stories, songs and crackling one-liners lit up countless nights and will spark many memories for all his friends, neighbours and extended family members. Although some may have thought of him as a son of a gun, he will always be remembered by us as the singing son of Hamilton.
A Celebration of Ted’s life will be held at Delta United Church, 47 Ottawa Street South, Hamilton, on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Delta United Church would be appreciated by the family.
