Obituary for William “Bill” Clarence Naylor
It is with deep sorrow that the family of William (Bill) Clarence Naylor regretfully announce his death. Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on July 7, 1938, he succumbed to illness on January 28, 2019 at the Brockville General Hospital.
Bill was preceded into death by his mother Myrtle, his father Clarence, and his beloved sister Sharon Vandrish. Throughout his entire life, he remained close to his surviving siblings and family, Mary and her husband Colin McGlynn, Harry and his wife Virginia (DiCota), and Jocelyn Savard (husband Wayne deceased).
He was completely devoted to his wife of 59 years Colette (Page), who now resides at St. Lawrence Lodge, and to their sons, Brian and Paul, his daughter Kim and her husband Carl Wiens and their sons Jacob and Lucas who brought him tremendous pride and joy.
From his youth into adulthood, the Boy Scouts of Canada were a formative source of values he carried into all aspects of his personal and professional life. Bill embraced life and work, from his first paper route to his retirement after 42 years with DuPont of Canada. It was a career that allowed him, with the support of his wife Colette, to travel the world that he was so keen to explore.
His entire family would like to express his deep gratitude to the people in the local organizations that provided invaluable support and guidance in Bill and Colette’s Alzheimer’s journey. Irvine Funeral Home will coordinate donations to the local branches of the Alzheimer Society, CPHC, and SMILE. The family would like to express our great appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Brockville General Hospital’s ER and ICU departments for their incredible dedication and dignity in their care of Bill.
Bill will be honoured on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James St. E., Brockville. There will be a general reception and visitation from 1-4 pm with family tributes taking place at 3 pm. Messages of condolence and donations may be placed online at www.irvinememorial.com.
