Obituary for Willard Keith Brown

On Tuesday, January 29, 2019, Willard Brown passed away suddenly near Crossfield, AB, at the age of 55 years.
He is remembered with all their love by his mother, Fay Brown; sister, Arlene (Grant) Gramiak; brother, Aaron (Cheryl) Brown; nephew, Tyler Gramiak; niece, Karina (David Gryschuk) Gramiak; grand-niece, Jayde Gryschuk; aunts, uncles, cousins, and a large group of friends. Willard was predeceased by his father, Keith Brown, on March 5, 1987.
Willard was born in Shellbrook, SK, on September 11, 1963, and grew up in Prince Albert, SK, with his parents and siblings. In the early 80s, the family moved to Slave Lake, AB, where he later joined them after working in Lloydminster for five years. He spent a few years working in Slave Lake and later moved to Edmonton for work purposes.
Maybe it’s in his blood because Willard chose to become a trucker just like his dad had been. In fact, he even entered the truck rodeo and placed very well, just as his dad did so many years before him. He did long hauls, travelling to Texas and all places in between, and in the last few years stayed closer to home in Alberta. He loved driving as well as the freedom and independence of his job.
Willard had a number of interests in his off hours. For many years he enjoyed playing soccer. His secret, he said, was his iron calves that never let him down. His appreciation for certain TV shows and movies will be remembered by everyone who heard him quote parts he memorized from his particular favourites. And Willard loved bike trips on his Ducati Diavel, enjoying scenic routes and visiting good friends.
He was a good-natured man, a friendly fellow who would talk your ear off on any subject that came up. Anyone who knew him, also knew his excellence in procrastinating. He thought, as Mark Twain did, “Never put off till tomorrow what may be done day after tomorrow just as well.” Along the same lines, he was expected to be hours, if not days, late for family events. Even so, he felt strongly about the importance of family and friends, and was fiercely loyal to both.
Willard will be so very missed by everyone who loved his talkative enthusiasm and unreserved friendliness.
