On January 30, 2019, Wayne Charles Parker, of Mayerthorpe, AB, passed away at the age of 86 years.
Wayne is lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Helen; daughters, Debra, Brenda, Ellie (Roger) and Laurie ( Bart); son, Brian; grandchildren, Troy, Kelsi, Shayla, Alexandra, Aaron, Brock and Brendan; and great grandchildren, Violet, Phoenix, Barrett, Lennox and Nolan.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Mary; sister, Cora; and sons-in-law, Brian and Dave;brother-in-law, Hugh.
Wayne lived his 86 years to the fullest. Wayne was born in a cabin in Codette, Saskatchewan and spent his childhood in Battle Heights, Saskatchewan. He taught himself to drive at a young age on a John Deere Tractor; therefore he had no problem when it came time to operate a D8 Caterpillar. When Wayne met the love of his life Helen, they moved to Alberta. Wayne loved running his own business in construction. He and Helen enjoyed many years of travel, camping, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Wayne had a sharp sense of humour and could always crack up a room with his one liners.
Thank you to the Doctors and staff of Extendicare Mayerthorpe for the compassion, kindness and care shown to Wayne and the family.
To honour Wayne’s wishes the family will be having a private celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, if so desired donations may be made to the Mayerthorpe Extendicare Resident Council (Rec Program), Box 569, Mayerthorpe, AB T0E 1N0 or charity of your choice.
