With love and fond memories, the Luckett family announces the peaceful passing of Walter Gerald “Gerry” Luckett, age 94, on Saturday February 23rd, 2019. With family by his bedside and his wife Isobel’s hand in his, Gerry departed us surrounded by boundless love and admiration.
Born in Toronto on March 31st, 1924 to Walter and Dorothy Luckett, Gerry piloted Lancasters in WWII before enjoying a successful career as an engineer for Ontario Hydro. Following the end of the war, Gerry married the love of his life, with whom he spent the next 71 years raising their 5 children and travelling the world. A celebrated Rotarian and always the life of the party, Gerry will be remembered for his sense of humour, wonderful voice and unrivaled love and generosity towards his many grandchildren.
Gerry is predeceased by his daughter, Cheryl Jackson (Tom), his great grandson, Skylar Luckett, and his brother, Ernest.
He is survived by his sister Margery Murphy (Sean), sons David (Glenda), Donald (Chris), Doug (Deb), Brian (Karen), grandchildren Christopher (Becky), Michael (Robyn), Darryl (Tiffany), Chrystal Lee, Wesley (Lisa), Eric (Kristi), Jessica, Steve, Nitachia (Serge), Aaron, Jeffrey (Lisa) and Trevor, great grandchildren Brittany, Amber, Elijah, Lincoln, Lenoxx, Rylee and Yannick.
The family will be receiving visitors at St. Andrew’s United Church, 399 Cassells St., North Bay on Friday March 1, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 followed by a Celebration of Gerry’s life at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Andrew’s United Church or Alzheimer Society of North Bay & District would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
