Walter Herman Franz of Medicine Hat passed away peacefully with his children at his side while at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at the age of 60 years. Left to cherish Walter’s memory are his three children: Derrick (fiancée Carly), Erica (fiancé Marc) and Jessica (fiancé Brendon); the mother to his children, Debbie; parents , Alvin and Marianne; sisters, Monica (Gerald) and Helga (Lorne) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Walter was raised on a farm South of Medicine Hat. After graduating from High School, he worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator and in the oilfield throughout Southern Alberta. A hard worker, he approached everything he did in life with a passion, whether on the job, working on the farm or with his racing. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so starting one hour prior to the Celebration of Walter’s life which will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. Private Interment will follow at Prairie View Cemetery with a time of fellowship thereafter in the Cook Southland Reception Facility. If friends so desire, tributes in memory of Walter may be made to the National Sarcoidosis Organization, RR #1, Sundre, Alberta, T0M 1X0.
