1930-2019
Viola Marjory Sheffield – 89, of Canning,
passed away on Monday, February 25, 2019 in the Valley Regional
Hospital, Kentville. Born in Sheffield Mills, she was a daughter of
the late Murville and Muriel “Mary” (Schofield) Houghton.
Viola was a very hard worker all of her life, working on many local
farms, as well as raising nine children. She loved her flowers and
gardens, especially her beautiful rose bushes. She is survived by
children, Wayne (Jeannie), Medford; Steven (Diane), Etobicoke, ON;
Terry, Canning; Tony, New Minas; Diane (Dan) Barkhouse, Canning; Linda
Fraser, New Minas; Patricia Hiltz, Canning; Elizabeth Sheffield,
Canning; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great
grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Sheffield
(1991); son, Eugene (1990). There will be no visitation, by request. A
funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019
in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Ivan Norton
officiating. A burial will take place in the Canard Burial Ground at a
later date. Donations in memory may be made to Diabetes Canada.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, Kentville.
