Verna Williams
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Verna
Jean (Milton) Williams of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, formerly of Pictou,
NS, which occurred February 21, 2019. She is survived by her loving
husband of 66 years, Stanley Williams; daughter, Nancy (Gordon)
Davidson, of Bridgewater; grandchildren, Sheilah (Kristoffer) of
Halifax; Janet of Bible Hill; and Ian (Kyleigh) of Leduc,
Alberta. The deceased is also survived by her
sisters, Phyllis Ross of Brockville, Ontario and Marie Davis of
Halifax and their families. She was predeceased by her parents, A.V.
and Jessie (MacInnis) Milton of Pictou and brothers-in-law, Barry
Davis and Douglas Ross. Verna was a long-time Royal Bank employee,
first in New Glasgow and later in Dartmouth
branches. She was a member of Iona Presbyterian
Church. Verna enjoyed hosting and actively engaging in social events
in her neighbourhood and beyond. She was fond of gardening, knitting
and other handwork and was an enthusiastic
traveller. Cremation has taken place and will be
followed by a family burial in New Glasgow at a later
date. There will be no visitation nor funeral by
her request. Memorial gifts may be made to Iona Presbyterian Church or
a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the
direction of the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New
Glasgow.
