Obituary

Larocque, Velma Penelope
Née Gordon
January 19, 1923 – February 3, 2019
Peacefully and gently at the Salvation Army Grace Manor. Velma, beloved wife of the late Wallace “Rocky” Larocque, and mother to Heather (Bill Anderson) and Holly (the late Paul Baker). Velma will be remembered for her generosity and her abiding love of all creatures great and small, most especially her cherished coterie of family and neighborhood dogs. She was always first in line with a casserole and a helping hand for whomever was in need. The magic and artistry of the gowns, dresses, costumes, and soft furnishings wrought by her talented hands will live on in the memory of her many admirers. No one will ever match her lighter than air pastry or her superlative meat pies. We are grateful for all the loving and compassionate care with which Velma was blessed in her final months and days. A memorial service will be held at the Grace Manor 1156 Wellington Street, Ottawa on Sunday, February 10th at 4 p.m. Anyone who wishes may make a donation in Velma’s memory to the Ottawa Humane Society or the Salvation Army.
