Obituary for Tina Rempel
Tina Rempel
1920-2018
This a tribute to Tina Rempel who passed away in Spirit River, Alberta on Christmas Day, 2018 at the age of 98. In the Bible the apostle Paul, reflecting back on his life writes, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7)
The example set by Paul and his Biblical teachings had a powerful influence in the life of Tina Rempel. Much of Tina’s married life was devoted to helping her husband Dick raise a family in the farming community of Silver Valley, Alberta. The challenges of homesteading were many, but through all the ups and downs, they had the unwavering faith and love for growing things in the hearts of their children.
Tina was a true pioneer. She was an excellent cook, gardener, had a beautiful singing voice and a love of birds. She was an accomplished seamstress, and later in life became an artist with oil paints. She had perseverance, loyalty, generosity, was hardworking and active in the community. She was a very sweet lady to all who knew her. A memorial service for Tina will take place later in the spring or early summer.
Tina Rempel’s legacy lives on. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren can be blessed in knowing that she fought the good fight, she finished the course, she kept the faith.
