Obituary for Taban and Manouchehr Eshghi

ESHGHI, Taban (Etemadi) October 7, 1943 – January 14, 2019 and ESHGHI, Manouchehr July 5, 1935 – January 17, 2019 Manouchehr was born in Kerman, Iran, on 5 July, 1935. He studied Geology, earning his B.Sc. from the University of Teheran and his M.Sc. from Reading University. He had a long career working as a petroleum geologist all around the globe. Taban was born in Esphahan, Iran, on 7 October, 1943. She studied Romance Languages at the University of Teheran, and continued her studies at the University of Leicester, from which she was awarded an M.A. in English Literature. Manouchehr and Taban met while both working at the Oil Service Company of Iran. After immigrating to Canada in 1980, Manouchehr worked for Mobil Oil, at their head office in Calgary. Taban continued working after the family moved to the North Shore, most recently as an Account Director in the manufacturing industry. In recent years, Manouchehr and Taban enjoyed second careers as full-time, devoted grandparents. Taban died on 14 January, after a 25-year battle with breast cancer. Manouchehr’s broken heart soldiered on for 78 hours without his wife of 48 years before failing. Manouchehr and Taban were predeceased by her parents, Ali Etemadi and Fatemeh Rastegar Djavaheri Etemadi, and his parents, Ali Eshghi and Tahereh Adib. They are survived by their daughters, Roxana and Shirin, son-in-law Akira, and grandsons Alistair and Kimiya. Special thanks are extended to the Lions Gate Hospital, B.C. Ambulance Service and the District of North Vancouver Firehall No. 4 for their service and dedication to the community.
