A life well lived and a man well loved, The Lord called him home gently and peacefully on Thursday, January 31, 2019 in his 79th year.
This gentle, loving, caring and wonderful man has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be dearly missed by his wife and best friend Doreen (Smith) and his very special family, Sheelah and Ron and “the three children” he adored. Sid was a major presence in the lives of Emily, Nicholas and Tanner and was so proud of his role as a grandparent, a teacher, a cheerleader, and mostly a quiet reminder of living a happy and fulfilling life and not sweating the small stuff.
Summer fishing trips will also be cherished by his brother, Richard (Pauline) and the twinkle in his eye will be fondly remembered by his sister, Elaine. Sid also leaves behind nephews, Rodney and Wayne; and niece, Carrie (greats too).
Work and play were the pivotal essence of Sid’s life. Sid created great friendships everywhere he went and will be fondly remembered by St. Albert Canadian Tire, St. Albert Special Olympics, Loseca Foundation and Catholic Social Services.
He was predeceased by his father Sidney George Pittman and his mother Germaine (Lauzé) and step-father Lucien Provost.
The family would like to thank all the health care professionals from Citadel Care Centre for their amazing care in the last couple of months of his life and are so grateful to those who comforted and cared for him, especially Neeru and Mo in his last days.
Cremation has taken place, and a Funeral Liturgy will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Albert Parish, 7 Vital Avenue, St. Albert.
If it’s so wished, memorial donations can be made to St. Albert Special Olympics, P.O. Box 206, St. Albert, AB, T8N 1N3.
May your adventures in heaven match the ones you had here on earth.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Sidney Pittman of St. Albert
