After a courageous two and a half year battle with AML, the Melvin family is devastated to announce Ryan’s passing on February 1st, 2019. A devoted father, husband, brother, son, and friend, he could always be counted on for a laugh and a helping hand.
Ryan is survived by his wife Jessie Melvin (Garnett), his beloved daughter Amadea, his parents Diana and Ross Melvin, Sister Erica Plagenz (Mike), Grandmother Geraldine Collrin (Bowes) and Grandfather Darrell Melvin (Linda).
Ryan will be reuniting with his late brother Jeret as well as his Papa (Leroy Collrin), and Nanny (Mary Melvin). Family and friends could always find Ryan hiking, hunting, or working with hands. He loved his dogs and had a deep appreciation for nature.
Ryan was determined and unwavering in his battle with leukemia. He displayed a strength that never failed to inspire everyone who came in contact with him. No matter the circumstances, he always calmly pushed forward and made plans for the future. Ryan’s loved ones always knew he had a big heart, but doctors learned that he literally had the biggest and strongest heart around. Ryan will never truly be gone as those who knew him will hold him in their hearts forever.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Monday from 12-8pm. A funeral service will be held from Silver Falls United Church (840 Loch Lomond Rd, Saint John, NB E2J 1Z2) on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 12 noon with interment to follow at Fernhill Cemetery. Donations can be made in Ryan’s memory to the John T. McMillan Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
