Obituary of Ronald Barron (Sr.)
Passed peacefully away at the Placentia Health Centre on February 19th, aged 85. Predeceased by his wife, Madeline, parents Joseph and Margaret, brother Peter, Sisters; Cecelia (Sis), Violet, and Agnes (Agg). He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children Ronnie (Kitty), Gerard (Elizabeth), Peter (Carol Ann), Jerome (Annette), David, Martha Welder (Dale), Howard (Darlene), Rose Frew (David), and Denise Watt (Allan), 16 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren, brothers Jim & Frank (Iggy), and sister Evelyn Ennis. He also leaves a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Cremation has taken place. Dad loved a “good” game of cards, but God Forbid if anyone cross-played. He enjoyed his daily walk on the Boardwalk along the beach, and at the local mall during bad weather – not sure what he enjoyed more – the walks or the chats with all the people he met along the way. He loved going to the dance for a scuff on a Saturday night, especially Newfoundland accordion music. He was authoritarian raising the family and expected everyone to “respect your elders”. He and mom, both, instilled in us all the importance of family, and for that we will be forever grateful. Visitation will take place at Coombs Funeral Home on Saturday & Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 & 7:00 – 9:00, Funeral Mass will take place at Sacred Heart Church, Placentia on Monday, February 25, 2019 at a time to be given later. Inurnment will take place at Coombs Memorial Cemetery, Southeast. The family wishes to thank Dr. R. Power and the staff of PHC for their care. Thanks also to the friends, family, and relatives who visited during dad’s recent illnes and who kept vigil over the last few days. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Lung Association.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Ronald
