Obituary of Robert Younge
April 28, 1939 – February 12, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Lyons Younge on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 in his 80th year. He was the beloved husband of the late Lorna Younge (Steinke) and much loved father of Rick (Cheryl), Wendy (Tom Abercrombie) of Carleton Place, Ont, Wanda (Mike Malone) of Duncan, BC, and Roger (Fiona). He will be missed by his grandchildren Rebecca (Chris), Benjamin (Katie) and Patrick (Heather) Younge; CJ (Megan), Jake and Tanner Porteous; Lindsay and Robert Abercrombie; Katie and Grace Younge. He will also be remembered by great-grandchildren Lochlan and Callum Stevens.
Born and raised in Clarendon, Bob devoted his entire life to farming. He also believed strongly in community service. He was a long-term board member of The Shawville Fair Board, served as a 4H leader, was a member of both The Shawville & Canadian Jersey Cattle Clubs, sat on The Western Quebec Milk Marketing Board, was a member of The Liberal Association and served on a farm advisory board to The Honourable Eugene Whelan. Bob took the greatest pleasure in mentoring new young farmers in the area as he loved to see farming families grow and succeed.
Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre St., Shawville, Quebec on Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. An Irish Wake/Celebration of Life for Bob will be held at The Homecraft Hall in the Shawville Fair Grounds on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 6pm until we’re done! All are welcome to help Bob’s family celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations to Villa James Shaw, Pontiac Reception Centre Foundation or The Alzheimer’s Association.
