Obituary of Robert Vigh
VIGH – Robert Andrew
Robert, son of Andy and Veronica, passed from this life on February 10th at the age of 74 years at the Stedman Community Hospice, after a courageous fight against cancer and congestive heart disease. He is survived by Linda, his wife of over 50 years; his son, Dylan (Gina); and, his brother, Frank (Brenda). He will be greatly missed by his dear friend and rail buddy, Bob Livingstone; Jake, his much-loved rescue dog; and, his grandcat, Sammy. Robert was a founding owner of The General Store when in 1977, he opened a small store at Eagle and Erie Avenue. Robert was truly blessed to have served his loyal customers at additional locations in Cambridge, Simcoe, and Paris, until he finally retired in 2010. An avid rail fan, Robert was a member of the South Simcoe Rail Historic Society for 40 years. Robert lived an exciting life; born and raised in Tillsonburg, he moved to Hollywood, California at 21 where he met Linda, who he married in 1968. Returning to Canada, they made their home in Brantford; where their son was born in 1971. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Robert’s Palliative Care Team; and, to his wonderful neighbors – Ted and Judy; Mike and Tina; and Brian and Lana for all their help and support. Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Roberts’s life will be held at the McCLEISTER FUNERAL HOME, 495 Park Road N. Brantford on Saturday February 16, 2019, from 2-4 pm. A time of sharing will be held at 3 pm. Robert loved to laugh, and we invite all of his friends and loyal customers to share your wonderful memories. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.mccleisterfuneralhome.ca
