Rev Maurice McLeod 1922 2019

Obituary of Rev. Maurice McLeod
Rev. Maurice McLeod passed away peacefully at Bridge Street Retirement Home on Friday, February 1st, 2019 in his 97th year. Son of the late William and Mabel McLeod. Beloved husband of the late Norma (nee Hill) McLeod. Loving father of Brian and his wife Chris of Kingston and Sheila Jane of Brighton. Proud grandfather of Michael, Colin and Liam. He is also remembered by his niece, Susan (Rob) Farough, by his nephew Chuck (Sherry) Reeb and by his cousins, Betty (Gordon) Priest, Margaret (Elwood) Hughes and Don McLeod, as well as by their families. He is predeceased by his son, James Barry Stewart McLeod.
Maurice spent his life in the service of others and for the past 53 years he lived long and full for the communities of Belleville and Prince Edward County. For a man who only had to work one day a week, he kept busy with the Ameliasburg Museum, 7th Town Historical Society, Ameliasburg Garden Club, Belleville Presbytery, Pastoral care at Belleville General Hospital, Religion classes at Kente and ok, I can now hear him saying “they know what I did, just get on with it”. So, where two or three are gathered, have a glass of wine and take some time to remember how Maurice was part of your life.
A Memorial Service will be held at Bridge Street United Church on Friday, February 8th, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Following the service there will be an opportunity to visit and share memories with the family in the church hall. Inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Napanee in the spring. Arrangements entrusted to the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel (613-968-2273). If desired, Memorial Donations to Bridge Street United Church would be appreciated by the family.
