Obituary for Ralph Piett

Peacefully on January 31st, 2019, RALPH LORNE PIETT passed away in the comfort of his home at the age of 84 years.
Born in Saskatoon, Sask. on April 2, 1934, Ralph was predeceased by his parents, Morley and Eva Piett and brother Lyle and sister-in-law Anne Piett. Ralph is survived by his daughter Donna (Joe) Crawford and their 2 children, Jarred and Julie of Quispamsis, NB and son Wayne (Karen) Piett and Colton of Winnipeg, MB. He took great pride in his loving grandchildren and cherished nieces and nephews: Linda and Dennis, Doug and Brenda, Gail and Marty, Lorne and Joann, Diana and Greg.
Ralph moved to Winnipeg as a young man and had a long career in sales, meeting many people and was well loved. An avid sports enthusiast from a very young age, outdoor hockey during the cold Saskatoon winters with his brother and friends was a given. His passion for sports continued throughout his life right up until his last day. Baseball, curling, marathons, and in later years his love of shuffleboard and golf were where his heart was. Ralph and his son Wayne could be found enjoying friendly competition on various golf courses around the city and beyond.
Ralph was an active volunteer, including numerous boards and committees, and meals on wheels. He especially loved his work as a golf course marshal. His annual trip to the family golf tournament in Regina was one of the many highlights of his summers.
Dad, you are and will forever be, lovingly missed. In keeping with Ralph’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life is to be held Friday, February 8th, 2019 from 1:00pm-5:00pm at the ANAVETS Assiniboia Unit #283, 3584 Portage Ave, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to a charity of choice.
