Linklater, Pauline (nee Iserhoff)- Born in Moosefactory August 8, 1955.
Pauline was a loving daughter to Agnes Hunter and the late Robert Iserhoff; sister to Irene Linklater, Ivan Iserhoff, Peter Iserhoff and Barbara Chum and niece to Annie O’Brien, Susan Hunter, Mike Hunter, Ernest Hunter, Dan Hunter, and Elisabeth Chookomolin.
Pauline was a loving mother to three children, Laureen Pizzale (Marc), Duane Linklater (Tanya) and Kellen Linklater and dear kookum, or grandmother, to Mina Linklater, Tessa Pizzale (Will), Kaelyn Pizzale, Tobias Linklater, Hunter Pizzale and Sassa Linklater.
She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She named many of her nieces and nephews. Pauline was born in Moose Factory and lived in Timmins for much of her life. She finished her high school diploma as an adult while caring for three children and later graduated from Northern College with a Social Service Workers diploma. She dedicated her career to helping others as an addictions counsellor for twenty years. Pauline touched many lives through counselling, encouragement, and cultural guidance. She walked daily, loved to laugh with her sister, and enjoyed shopping trips with grandchildren. Pauline was a sports fan, cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Toronto Blue Jays. She loved music, cross words, reading fiction, and watching for various animal visitors from her balcony. She looked forward to her annual summer road trips with her children and grandchildren. Despite experiencing many years at St. Anne’s Residential School in Fort Albany, she was resilient and offered strength and peace to her children, grandchildren, and others. Pauline’s first language was Cree, and she spoke her language all her life. She inspired in her children a drive to further their education and to persevere amidst life’s challenges. She was following mino pimatsiwin.
Pauline passed away in North Bay, Ontario February 18, 2019 surrounded by her sister, children and grandchildren. Her mother, siblings, aunts, nieces and other family traveled from as far away as Peawanuck to be with her and to support one another. Family receiving friends at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Rd on Thursday February 21st from 6 pm until 8 pm and Friday February 22nd from 9 am until 11 am. After the visitation, a Celebration of Life will take place at Hillside, with a burial at Holy Cross Cemetery to follow.
The family wants to thank to Dr. Kistemaker at North Bay Regional Health Centre and many nurses who provided care for Pauline and compassion for the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that people donate in Pauline’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
