Nicholas Anthony Kupnicki
78 years of age passed on February 23, 2019. Loving father to Nicole, Ken, Matthew (Deanna), Anthony and Thaddeus Bartholomew (in heaven). Proudest Gipa of Otto and Flora who ALWAYS made him smile. Long-time friend and loving ex-husband of Paulette Kupnicki and spouse Ginny Lundgren. Predeceased by his sister Anna and brother-in-law Joseph Bialas (Brantford). Favourite uncle of Anna’s children – Fran (Rick) Sweers, Joseph (Kathy) Bialas, Mike Bialas (Nancy Gambacourt) and Chris Fraino (Les Jani). Also very popular uncle of Kris Simard, Melanie (Andrew) Janisse-Barlow, Jamie (Maggie) McCreary, Justin (Alana) Janisse, Cara (Jeremy) Pfaff, Lindsay (Mark) McMinimee, Jacob Janisse, Danielle (Jamie) Pinske & Cody (Kylie) Maisonneuve.
Nick proudly served in the Royal Canadian Navy (Reserves) as a young man and travelled widely to the East Coast, Greenland & Iceland. He taught science for many years at Walkerville and finished his career at Riverside. He loved his home and devoted much of his retirement to feeding monarch butterflies, growing ivy, and planting trees in his backyard with elaborate homemade waterfalls. You could often find him on his porch ensuring his grass was the greenest. His joy was on the water and in fair weather, he could be found on his boat cruising the Detroit River. He loved his neighbourhood and all of his neighbours who supported him over the years.
Our endless gratitude to the staff at Riverside Place. We couldn’t have hoped for a better team of people to care for him. To his many companions, and especially Eleanor, Vanessa, Dave, Heidi, Holly – we have no words – he was so fortunate to have each of you in his life. Smokey-Nick, your curiosity, genuine interest and quick wit will be missed. You were very loved.
A Celebration of Nick’s life will be held at Riverside Place (3181 Meadowbrook) on Saturday, March 2, 2019. Visitation 1pm-4pm with a service at 3pm. Dad had complex plans, including burial at sea, which will take place at a later time. Cremation services entrusted to FAMILIES FIRST, 1065 Lauzon Rd., East Windsor, 519-969-5841.
