Obituary of Muriel Pullen
PULLEN, Mildred Frances (nee Jamison)
Muriel Frances Pullen (Jamison) died peacefully surrounded by her loving family, in the hands of her husband Don, and daughter Maureen early on February 19, 2019. Predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Muriel Jamison of the town of Mount Royal, Montreal and then of Brantford. Loving and devoted wife to Donald James Pullen for almost 65 years of Paris, cherished Mother of Donald James Pullen Jr. of Hamilton, Derek Jamison Pullen and Lucy Kristan of Caledon East, Daryl Thomas Pullen of Toronto, and Maureen Frances Capel of Paris, grandchildren Cameron Capel and Katherine Anne Capel (Zane) of Toronto. Muriel was predeceased by siblings Gerald Jamison and Geraldine Inglis (Lorne), survived by sister-in-law Barbara Jamison, Joan Hobbs (Robert), Jack Pullen (Dora), and many nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by in-laws Tobe and Jack Pincombe, Tom Pullen and June and Pat, Bert and Eileen Pullen. Besides being a wonderful Mother to her 4 children, Muriel kept active with many groups: a lifetime member of Brantford’s Beta Sigma Phi, serving on many boards and executives, President of the Ladies section of the BG&CC and member since 1954. She also served on the Brantford Probus executive and was a member of the Brantford Real Estate Association while working with Read McVicar Realty. She enjoyed many crafts, including ceramics which she taught in her homes for 10 years. She loved to learn, even becoming a bricklayer. She was often found puttering in her many gardens, playing with her grandchildren in St. George and supporting them at their school and sports activities. A favorite family memory is how she always decorated with a flair, making all birthday and holiday celebrations extra special! She loved to dance with Don at the many sorority socials and New Year’s celebrations, as well as their yearly travels down south and abroad. She had a life-long passion for reading that she shared with all her children. She didn’t want to miss out on anything. Simply put, Muriel found everyday life so interesting! Many thanks to all the staff at Telfer Place, especially those on the 2nd floor of the lodge. You all made Muriel feel loved and well cared for. Thank you also to the Outreach team of Tracey and Dr. Gladstone and the LHIN staff ( Kim) and Dr. Hanley. Your support was most helpful over these tough last years. You all went above and beyond. Family and friends will be received at the McCLEISTER FUNERAL HOME, 495 Park Road North, Brantford on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Memorial Service in the Chapel on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. If wished, memorial donations to the Brant Lung Association, Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario Heart and Stroke Association or Juravinski Hospital gratefully appreciated. Letters of condolence will be received by the family at mccleisterfuneralhome.ca McCleister (519) 758-1553.
