Monte Brian Williams
Williams,
Monte Brian, 68 of Hopewell, Pictou County passed away peacefully in
the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital on February 16,
2019with his wife by his side.
Born in
New Glasgow he was the youngest son of the late George and
Gladys(Dixon)Williams.
Monte was
a devoted husband, father, brother, son and grandfather. He loved
animals, especially Ghizmo.
Monte was
a Firefighter with the Eureka Fire Department for 35 years, a 4H
leader with the Hopewell 4H for some 35 years, and an avid coach with
the club and county woodsman teams for over 30
years.
During
his working years Monte was employed with Grants Glass, AJ Munroe, and
the former Central Supplies before becoming a self employed Contractor
in 1991.
He loved
having the family hobby farm when his kids were growing up, teaching
his children values along the way. He was opinionated, but
was passionate about life, always voicing his views and standing his
ground. He was a curler for nearly 20 years with the
Firemen’s League and Bluenose Curling Club, his greatest
accomplishment was winning the Harvey Dickson Memorial with his wife
and 2 of his children.
He is
survived by his wife of 46 years, the former Heather(Lumsden),
children: Corey(Melissa), Las Vegas, Meaghan(Marco), Hopewell;
Brian(Kendra), Camrose,AB; grandsons: Simon Roussel, Kahdian, Rylan,
Cameron and Caleb; a brother Glenn(Betty), Caribou Island;
sister-in-law, Doris, several nieces and
nephews.
He was
predeceased by a brother Leo, sisters: Betty and Joan, sister-in-law
Phyllis, brothers-in-law Johnny Barkhouse and Donald
Mills.
His
remains will rest at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow for
visiting from 2-4 and 7-9pm Friday. A Celebration of Life
will be held from 3-5pm Saturday at the Eureka Fire
Hall.
Donations
in memory of Monte may be made to the Eureka Fire Department or to the
Lodge that Gives, Halifax.
