BIRD, Maudie “Mary”
(nee Chookomolin)
1951- 2019
The Bird/Chookomolin family announces with heavy hearts Maudie’s passing at the Timmins & District Hospital on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 67 years of age. Maudie was a vibrant, confident and humorous soul. She valued family time, living off the land and music. Maudie’s love of life was also shared in her role as a law enforcement officer with the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police. Her laughter and wisdom will be missed by all. Maudie was the beloved wife of Alex Luke Bird and cherished mother of Kimberley (Dean), Gabriel, Kevin, Carolyne (Aaron), Charity (Xavier) and Alexander Johnathan (Sky). Dear grandmother of Mickayla (Tony), Shane, Russel, Anthony, Jared, Dale, Hudson, Taylor, Quintin and Adrianne. Loving great grandmother of Rowen and Willow. Sister of Pauline (Mike), Albert (Helen), Judy (John), Margaret (Maurice), Richie (late Rita) and Louie (Marlene). Predeceased by her parents John and Caroline Chookomolin and her brothers Gregory (late Harriette) and Abraham (late Margaret). Maudie will also be missed by her dear friends and her many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Timmins & District Hospital medical personnel for the care and compassion they offered Maudie, especially the staff of the Timmins Hospice Centre. Also, the family would like to extend their thanks to the Peawanuck First Nation for all their support. Remembrance donations to the Timmins & District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
