Peters (Sampson), Mary “Lorraine” – Age 79, of Lower L’Ardoise. It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Mary “Lorraine” (Sampson) Peters on February 11, 2019, in the Palliative Care Unit, VG Site, QEII, Halifax. She was a daughter of the late Annie Mae and Joseph Sampson.
Lorraine was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Gerard Francis Peters; and her brother, Joseph. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, sisters, brothers, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Lorraine enjoyed life’s simple pleasures; chatting with family and friends, berry picking, flowers, antiques, attending yard sales and knitting. For the past 10 years she had been knitting and donating comfort teddy bears to the IWK for children undergoing surgery, complicated medical tests, or who just need a bit of extra cheering up. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Cremation has taken place. A service will be held in L’Ardoise, Cape Breton in the spring for family, friends, and others whose lives Lorraine touched to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat. Details will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of choice.
Donna and Darrell would like to express a special thank you to the Palliative Care Unit 7A, Centennial Building, VG Site, for the special care given their mother.
Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
