Marion Calhoun, beloved wife to Joe Calhoun passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at the age of 70 years young. Her life was cut much too short after a very brief but courageous battle with cancer. Marion’s final days were spent at home being cared for and surrounded by loved ones. Marion was born March 9, 1948, in Regina, Saskatchewan. She married her longtime friend and love, Joe, on October 12, 1968. Together they raised 3 children, Tawndra, Brandie and DJ. She was completely devoted to her family, selflessly creating an ideal home.
Marion loved gardening, painting, drawing, sewing, embroidery, crafting, reading, baking, cooking, and catching up with friends and family. Over the years she spent time running the Acadia Parent Operated Lunch Program, working at Eaton’s, Sears, Excel Homes, and countless other endeavors. Marion will live forever through the love she showed to others. She was someone who was always there to give her time and love selflessly. Marion made a difference in many people’s lives and was always available to listen and lend a helping hand.
Marion is survived by her husband Joe; brother Bob Dolha (Darlene Newson), sister Peggy Goodman-Dolha, sister Elaine Dolha, brother Cliff Dolha (Joan), her daughter Tawndra Calhoun (Steven Anderson), daughter Brandie (Mike) Desmarais, son DJ Calhoun (Matthew Laforet); grandson Sammie Desmarais; her many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her Father-in-law Marshall (Lilias) Calhoun; her brother-in-law Richard Langlois; as well as many cherished friends. Words cannot express the deep sorrow of her loss. It was a privilege to know her and she will be dearly missed. If friends and family so desire in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice in her memory.
I thought of you today,
but that is nothing new.
I thought about you yesterday
and days before that too.
I think of you in silence,
I often speak your name.
All I have are memories and
Your picture in a frame.
Your memory is a keepsake
from which I’ll never part.
God has you in His arms,
I have you in my heart.
