Maria Spitale
May 11, 1935 – February 15, 2019
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly beloved Maria Spitale, at the age of 83. She is survived by her devoted husband Santo, of 61 years, daughter Josie (Tony), son Joe (Linda), and grandchildren Alexander (Christina), Stephen, Jessica, Julia and Lauren. Maria will be missed by her sisters Sarina, Fina, Gianna, Lilia and brother Franco, as well as her sisters and brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, god children and cousins here, in Italy and abroad.
Maria’s life was full; she was devoted to her family, her friends and her faith. Most of her free time was spent providing dedicated service to St. Francis of Assisi Church. She was president of the Over 50 Club for decades, she sang in the Italian choir and was involved in all aspects of community life with the Church. She truly loved her work at the Church.
Maria’s warm and full of life personality will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her, as she was dearly loved by all of us. The viewing will be held from 6:30 to 8:00pm on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Bell and Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 am on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 2025 Napier Street, Vancouver, B.C. Entombment will follow at Ocean View Burial Park, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, B.C.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to either the ALS Society or St. Francis of Assisi School building fund. “Memories of you will never fade away. We love you and you will always be in our hearts”.
