Margaret Frances Stewart (nee Valleau)
Born Feb.15, 1928
Three days short of her 91st birthday, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother on Feb. 12th. Marg died peacefully following an extended stay in Oshawa Lakeridge Hospital. Born and raised in Oshawa, Marg grew up on Simcoe St., not far from the Hospital. Following her graduation from O’Neill High School, she trained to become a Registered Nurse at Toronto General Hospital. After graduating, she married James (Jim) Stewart, (deceased, Dec 25, 2018), of Hamilton. For the first 3 years of their marriage, Jim and Marg lived in Sept-Iles, Que., where Marg worked as a Nurse in the small local hospital.
Jim and Marg returned to the Durham Region settling in Whitby. Marg concentrated her energies on raising their 2 sons, gardening and volunteering at the Whitby Yacht Club. Marg is survived by her sons Gordon (Jane) and Jim (Peggy), 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and her brother Richard (Dick) Valleau.
At Marg’s request, there will be no funeral. A Celebration of Life for both Marg and Jim will be held on March 30, 2019, from 2-4pm at The Whitby Yacht Club. Many thanks to the incredible staff at Chartwell Colonial Retirement Residence, emergency staff and the Nurses and Doctors on 5G at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for their compassionate care of Marg and her family during this sad time.
