Passed away peacefully at the Dartmouth General Hospital on Feb. 19, 2019 with his family by his side. He was born in East Lawrencetown on Aug. 2, 1921. The son of the late Sidney and Florence(Leslie) Crowell. He worked the family farm with his father for several years. He worked in the off seasons with Lawrencetown Sand & Gravel; MacDonald Sand and Gravel and Armstrong Brothers of Brampton, ON. He and his brothers Gordon & Vernon owned and operated a saw mill for several years under the registered name of Crowell’s Lumber. He was the treasurer of the Lawrencetown Credit Union for several years. He and his two partners Clarence(Clarey) Mullane and Basil Murphy purchased the woodworking operations of Woodlawn Lumber and Fence operating as Bluenose Woodworkers in Woodlawn where he worked for 34 years until his retirement. He is survived by daughters Sherlene(Sherry) Crowell(Peter); Donna Pollard(Scott); granddaughter Tammy Downey(James & son Landon); grandson Chad Downey(Kelsey); great grandson Channing. Special friends Ida Smith & Georgia Pollard. He was predeceased by the love of his life Doris(Leslie) in 1992 of 37 years; brothers Gordon & Vernon and sister Hazel. Respecting his wishes there will be no visitation nor service. His remains will be added to mom’s urn and they will finally be buried together at a later date in the Lawrencetown Cemetery. He was a great provider, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather & friend. He will be dearly missed but in our hearts forever!! Online condolences at www.dartmouthfuneralhome.ca.
