Mae Kelly Bernice Wood 1919 2019

Obituary of Mae (Kelly) Wood
WOOD, Mae (Kelly) Bernice (née Grant)
Peacefully on February 19, 2019 in her 100th year. Beloved wife of the late Roy Hill Wood (1996). Loving big sister to Doris and Lois, predeceased by her brother Don. Dearest Aunt Kelly to Brenda Pratt and Mike Goldsmith (Linda), and Auntie Mae to a number of nieces and nephews, as well as great and great-great-aunt to many as well. Kelly held a number of jobs in what was then a bustling Hamilton. Kelly and Roy (Woodsie) married in 1938 and began their busy lives together, much of which was spent with either a Harley Davidson or Indian(Roy’s favourite!) motorcycle as their only form of transportation. Both Kelly and Roy were great pet-lovers and always had a critter or three around the house. ‘Crickers’ for most of their lives, Kelly lived in the same house for nearly 60 years. As kids, we have many fond memories of going to Stoney Creek Dairy for ice cream and Hutch’s on The Beach for hamburgers and fries! The Family wishes to express our thanks to the Clarion Nursing Home for their compassionate care over the last 4+ years. Despite Kelly’s ‘firing’ of everyone on an almost-daily basis, staff continued to care very much for and about her. Special thanks to Ann the Activity Aide, for getting in really close and making her laugh. Thanks too, to Dr. Ralph Proffetto for his decades of care…
Friends and family will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive in Stoney Creek on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA.
